The island Ithaka is with its 96 sqkm after Paxos and has about 5000 inhabitants.
Beside the capital Vathi the island offers some beautiful,
quiet bays and anchorage with very clean water.

Kioni, a
picturesque bay, looks like an Amphitheater. During a
walk you will have fantastic views over the sea. Position
38°27 N 020°41,5 E.
At the north eastern side of Ithaka you see the ruins
of three windmills at the cape Psigadi. On the mole in
the port is a light beacon. At the dock, also in the bay
possible. In the afternoon the wind is coming up! Give
enough anchor cable! |

Small
fish port with tavernas. Not much to anchor. Caution,
down gusts.
Position 38°27,6N 020°40 E
The port is at the north eastern side of Ithaka. The approx.
150 m long mole is marked with light beacon. Inside the
mole boats can anchor directly at the dock. In case of
no space inside anchor outside the mole with long lines.
Give as much anchor cable as possible since the down gusts
are sometimes very heavy. Let an anchor guard at the boat. |

Large
well protected bay, in ancient times Odysseus's home port.
From here he started with his fleet to Troja. Today only
a small cave reminds of this times and some articles like
pieces of broken glass and swords has been found there.
Position 38°26,4N 020°38,4 E
The bay is located at the north west coast and open to
south west. Well protected in case of north wind and a
good place for staying overnight. Some space at the mole.

Kolpos Aetou and Port of Vathy |
Vathy
is at the eastside of Ithaka, surrounded by high mountains,
the approach is easy. Vathy is the capital of the island
and a busy city with various shopping facilities. Approaching
Kolpos Aetou you sight soon the entry of the the port
of Vathy, well marked by the beaconed lighthouses on Ak.
A. Andreou and the island Skartsoumbo. Further on you
pass the little island Loimokathartirion, also marked
with green radio beacon.
At the south west dock or outside the short mole. Not
well protected from the north-west wind and down gusts!
Better anchorage in the northern part. Position
